The key, the purpose, must be to help someone else! Work to bring abundance to everyone you talk to. The reality – they are probably not interested in what you do. They came to promote themselves. They won’t be genuinely interested in what you do unless they see you are genuinely interested in what they do and demonstrate that. They have no reason to let you into their business or personal life until they believe you will do something for them. This is a big opportunity for you! Now, let’s say you have your organized group of contacts, i.e. your network. When you talk to someone you need to really know and understand what they do. Get as many details as you can. This is vital. Take notes on their business card. Test your understanding by coming up with examples of people who would use their product or service. Right away you will be seen as an important contact to them. Often they do not have it clear to themselves, and now they do, so you have already helped them. Now ask them "What do you need now?" They may be surprised. They won’t be prepared for this question. Most people they talk to don’t really care. So you might have to work at finding out exactly what they need now. And again, it often is not very clear to them. Find out! Once you get it connect them up to the PEOPLE and GROUPS where they might be able to get it. Do it now or call them the next day. There you go. Do this over and over and over again. Just keep doing this. When you are successful helping them they will let you into their business and personal world. They will naturally help you. They want you around. They want you to be there to keep helping them. They want to exchange help with you because it feels good. Don't expect help from any specific person you have helped. You must have faith that good things will come to you from all directions. You get the idea? Your sphere of influence will grow when you do this over and over and over. You will be the "go to person". Your are the man or woman that helps. You are the man or woman that makes things happen. You care, you can be trusted because you genuinely care and help people. Networking will help you, your family, your groups and make the world a better place. Networking like this brings abundance to everyone, including YOU! |
